[:es]Recientemente el Club ha gestionado dos casos idénticos de lesiones graves en brazos (Singapur y Estados Unidos) que se produjeron durante inspecciones rutinarias y limpieza interior de los receptores de aire de barrido del motor principal.
En ambas ocasiones los oficiales de máquinas en cuestión sufrieron lesiones graves en sus brazos derechos mientras tomaban fotografías en el interior de los espacios de barrido que han cambiado sus vidas.
Recomendamos que se lleve a cabo una evaluación de riesgos apropiada y se establezcan medios claros de comunicación antes de que se inicie cualquier trabajo en el interior de los espacios de aire de barrido. También se debe considerar el uso de un palo selfie al tomar fotografías en el interior del espacio del cilindro y en las proximidades de los pistones en movimiento. Físicamente, tomar fotografías dentro de los espacios de los cilindros es muy peligroso y se debería evitar.
Los Receptores de Aire de Barrido también son espacios cerrados y se deben seguir procedimientos de entrada apropiados cuando se trabaje en el interior de los mismos.

[:en]The Club has recently dealt with two identical serious arm injuries (Singapore and USA) caused during routine inspections and cleaning inside the main engine scavenge air receivers.
On both occasions the engineer officers in question suffered serious, life-changing injuries to their right arms while taking photographs inside the scavenge spaces.
We would recommend that a proper risk assessment should be carried out and clear means of communication are established prior to any work being started inside the scavenge air spaces. The use of a “selfie stick” should also be considered when taking photographs inside the cylinder space and in the vicinity of moving pistons. Physically taking photographs inside the cylinder spaces is highly dangerous and should be avoided.
Scavenge Air Receivers are also enclosed spaces and proper entry procedures should be followed when carrying out work inside them.
